We have been looking forward to this engagement session for a long time…literally.  After multiple postponements (due to rain, jury duty, flu, rain again, the apocalypse, etc.), we finally had the chance and honor to photograph our great friends, Andrew and Katie.  They got engaged back in September and we can’t wait to see them tie the knot this June.  For their engagement session, we spent the afternoon hiking in Santa Clarita.  The rolling hills and clear blue sky were a perfect backdrop for this couple.  No rainy days for them.  Everything is sunshine and roses.

It’s that time of year again…HOLIDAY PHOTO TIME!  We kicked off the season right with the Mercado family.  I met their family of 25 at the always gorgeous Woodley Park in Van Nuys.  It had just rained the day before, so the clouds were amazing and the trees were full of saturated fall leaves.  It was a fun session from start to finish and I’m so glad to have met this wonderful family.  Here is just a few of my favorites.  There were so many that it was hard to narrow it down.

No Doubt is our favorite band.  So when they announced a seven night residency at one of our favorite venues (The Gibson Amphitheater), we knew we had to be there.   They were as fun and energetic as ever, playing hit after hit after hit.  It really is amazing just how many hits they have.  The entire crowd was on their feet for the entire show…even the acoustic set (which was also amazing).  The new songs were a great addition to their already spectacular lineup, with the acoustic version of Sparkle being a personal favorite.  Take a look at some of our pictures from the evening and let us know what you think.

Till death do they part… Yvette and Mark’s wedding was nothing short of amazing! With personalized details that brought out their personalities to the touching ceremony and first dance, Yvette and Mark had a beautiful wedding at the Saint Pascal Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks.  There’s something about that moment when a bride and groom looks at each other for the first time on their wedding day that always touches our hearts.  When these two saw each other for the first time, their smiles said it all and you could tell how much in love they are.

It’s wonderful couples like Yvette and Mark that make us love what we do.  They were such a pleasure to work with and their families and friends made it that much better. By the end of the night the party was hot and the dancing lasted till the wee hours of the morning.

Yvette and Mark – You both are amazing and we are so happy we were able to capture these memories for you. We wish you a lifetime of happiness and look forward to capturing your future life’s moments.

We occasionally do photo contests based on submitted photos and the photos with the most Facebook “likes” wins.  It was a tight race for our Father’s Day Photo Contest.  The Kokel’s shared the photo and told everyone they knew to “like” it.  They won a 2 hour photo session at the location of their choice.  Now, since they live in Texas and were coming to California for a friends wedding, we scheduled it while they were here.  This session was so much fun even though it was the hottest day of the month!  The kids were really enjoying themselves and when we pulled out our bag of tricks it let them let loose and forget about the posing for a bit.

We couldn’t have been more excited to shoot Yvette + Mark’s Engagement shoot.  Not only was it one of the hottest days of the year but they looked hot in their photos!  They are saying “I Do” on October 27 in Thousand Oaks, CA and we are looking forward to this even more special day to photograph for them.  With their Rockabilly style, Travel Town in Griffith Park seemed like the perfect place to get some rockstar photos.  We then headed over to the Griffith Park Observatory where they filmed the classic movie, “Rebel Without A Cause” and captured some classic photos.

Yvette + Mark, we thank you for spending the day with us and braving the heat.  We are looking forward to your big day and we know it will be AMAZING!

We couldn’t have been more excited to shoot Yvette & Mark’s engagement session today.  This was one hot shoot…literally.  As temperatures reached 100 degrees in the valley today, the couple braved through.  First stop was Travel Town in Griffith Park, where the couple and their dog, Zero, took some pictures on and around some classic trains and cars.  Then, we drove up to the Griffith Park Observatory to finish off the shoot with some “stellar” views of the city.  We look forward to shooting their wedding next month.  It should be…(wait for it)…out of this world.
